Waterhaul is collaborating with Big Blue Foundation to expand upon the important environmental work already being done by the Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands, namely Big Blue Foundation’s conservation technology project using drones to detect ocean plastics in the Maldives. The collaboration will help to establish the first Maldivian ‘Flying Labs’ chapter, a capacity building project to facilitate professional drone flying classes in-situ for Maldivians, with an emphasis on monitoring coastlines for Ghost nets. The project is being supervised by Melissa Schiele, Big Blue Foundation Chief Scientific Advisor.
Working with the Big Blue Foundation, Waterhaul will use the Ghost Gear collected by The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands to create a range of high-quality bespoke 100% recyclable sunglasses.
