We are thrilled to announce that thanks to the generous support of our donors and partners, including Kent Community Foundation , Crowdfund Kent and Folkestone & Hythe District Council Fund , we have successfully funded this innovative educational project. In collaboration with local educators, marine scientists, and adventure enthusiasts, we are developing this unique program designed to seamlessly blend education with recreation. Starting this summer, children in Folkestone will have the opportunity to learn about their marine environment while embarking on kayaking and paddleboarding adventures.
Hands-On Learning in Action
Beyond traditional classroom settings, this project encourages hands-on learning. Children will actively participate in beach clean-ups, learning the importance of recycling, and gaining insights into how a Circular Economy can create a sustainable future. These activities are not just educational but also instill a sense of responsibility and stewardship for the environment.
Building Lasting Connections
One of the project’s core objectives is to foster a connection between the younger generation and their marine surroundings. By experiencing the beauty of Folkestone’s coastal waters firsthand, children are more likely to develop a genuine passion for marine conservation, inspiring a lifelong commitment to preserving our oceans.
Getting Ready to Set Sail!
As we prepare to launch this educational project, we’re excited for the positive impact it will have on the young minds of Folkestone. We invite you to follow our journey on social media, where we’ll be sharing updates, stories, and moments of discovery as children embark on this educational adventure. Together, we are not just teaching children to paddle; we are guiding them towards a future where they understand, appreciate, and actively contribute to the conservation of our marine environments.
